Businesses have to become socially conscious and responsible on top of profitability and financial success. This has led to a rise in investors, venture capitalists and other stakeholders implementing Environmental, Social and Governance criteria (ESG) in order to assess the effects of their investments.
Environmental criteria assess how an organisation performs as a steward of nature. This includes the energy consumption and waste management of their operations as well as carbon emissions and how it is contributing to combating climate change.
Social criteria examine how it manages relationships with its employees, suppliers, customers, the communities where it operates and other stakeholders. This element also includes how the organisation promotes diversity and inclusion in its workforce and operations.
Governance deals with a company’s leadership, executive pay, audits, internal controls, and shareholder rights. These criteria enable companies and their investors to become more socially responsible and sustainable. With a company being a legal entity in its own right, it is obligated to comply with the laws and regulations of the countries in which it operates.

She has successfully led and executed robust business transformation award-winning strategies pivotal in achieving sustainable growth within any organisation most recently as the Communications, Public Affairs & Sustainability Director for Lafarge Africa Plc (Holcim Plc).
Folashade has also served on the Summit 24 Executive Committee of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG) and served as a board member of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Private Sector Advisory Group (PSAG) Nigeria and the board of the United Nations Global Compact Nigeria as well as the inaugural president of EuroChams Nigeria.
